Spiritual Formation Teaching and Practices
Renovaré hosted by Nathan Foster
Renovaré is a Christian spiritual formation collective founded with Richard Foster that now offers training, book clubs, and resources like this podcast. The podcast has interviews on spiritual formation topics, sometimes guided prayers or meditations, and always has a welcoming, grounded, joy to it.
The Presence Project with Rev. Summer Joy Gross
An Episcopalian priest, she has done a beautiful work incorporating Ignatian imaginative prayer practices with practices based in neuroscientific research (see Curt Thompson’s Anatomy of the Soul on my books page!). She has married ancient contemplative practice with modern science in an effective way. She normally does some teaching and then guides through a practice, and occasionally interviews guests.
The Next Right Thing with Emily P. Freeman
These short podcasts (~10 minutes) are a breath of fresh air to help you navigate life graciously in the grace of God. Emily has a simple, profound, winsome way of saying things that helps cut the clutter of thought we often have. She offers these as a way to help us make decisions from our deep, true selves in God. (She’s also a favorite author of mine!)
Lectio 365 by 24-7 Prayer
This is an app that guides you through a form of lectio divina. As you listen, they lead you through P.R.A.Y—Pause to be still. Rejoice with a Psalm and Reflect on Scripture. Ask for God’s help, and Yield to His will in your life. Look for this in your App Store or Google Play.
Unhurried Living with Alan and Gem Fadling
This is a podcast that has grown out of their ministry of soul care to ministry leaders. They offer reflections, devotions, meditations and interviews.
Soulful Wondering
On Being hosted by Krista Tippett
Krista interviews thinkers, writers, leaders, artists and more on spiritual, social, communal ideas. It is always a deepening conversation. From the website: “Pursuing deep thinking and moral imagination, social courage and joy, to renew inner life, outer life, and life together.”
SuperSoul Conversations hosted by Oprah Winfrey
Like Krista, Oprah interviews leaders and thinkers for social and personal change as we “awaken to the deeper world around” us. If you prefer video, she hosts these conversations on SuperSoul Sunday.
Unlocking Us hosted by Brené Brown
Brené is a researcher, author, speaker on shame and empathy, vulnerability and courage, and really digs in to being wholeheartedly human—which leads to the divine, paradoxically! I find her ideas to be really helpful for our soul journeys.
